Undecided Voters React to Harris’s V.P. Pick
We asked how they felt about Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota as Kamala Harris’s running mate. At least a handful of them are still unsure.
At least a handful are still undecided.
It’s often said that vice-presidential candidates don’t significantly influence voter decisions, and that appears to hold true for a small group of undecided voters in swing states that The Times has been following over the past seven weeks.
When asked about Vice President Harris’s selection of Governor Walz, these undecided voters mostly shrugged. Here’s what they said:
Kristen Morris in Charlotte, N.C.
Kristen Morris, 60, a nursing student who refers to herself as a “raging moderate,” said she knew little about Mr. Walz beyond his appearance as “a very authentic, hardworking, principled guy” with a unique blend of military and teaching experience.
“He’s a progressive, and she’s obviously a progressive,” Ms. Morris noted about the Democratic ticket. “What would really make me happy is a movement toward the middle. It can be left of center, it can be right of center. I don’t care, but just get away from making unrealistic promises and pandering to extremes.”
