Ohtani injury update: Dodgers star dislocates shoulder in World Series: A lively Saturday night at Dodger Stadium turned tense when superstar Shohei Ohtani injured his shoulder during a slide into second base on a failed steal attempt in the seventh inning.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared that Ohtani had partially dislocated his left shoulder on the play and would undergo additional tests. However, Roberts conveyed optimism about Ohtani’s status.
“We’ll know more once we get the scans, but his strength and range of motion are good, which is certainly a positive sign,” Roberts commented after the Dodgers’ 4-2 victory in Game 2 of the World Series.
When asked about the possibility of Ohtani missing the remainder of the series, Roberts said he hadn’t considered it yet and is “expecting [Ohtani] to be there. I’m expecting him to be in the lineup.”
Update on Shohei Ohtani’s Injury in Dodgers vs Yankees World Series: With the Dodgers up 2-0 in the series, the World Series now shifts to New York for Game 3 on Monday.
Ohtani, renowned as the only player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a season, has primarily served as a designated hitter this year. He’s managed to stay injury-free over 159 games, drawing a two-out walk in the seventh inning but was thrown out by Yankees catcher Austin Wells during the steal attempt.
“You hate seeing one of the game’s best players get hurt like that,” Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge said. “Hopefully, it’s all good news, and we’ll see how it goes.”
