Mega Millions jackpot rises to $740 million after no grand prize winner
Mega Millions winning numbers for August 23 drawing; Jackpot soars to $575 million
The Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to an estimated $740 million after no tickets matched the winning numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing.
The numbers drawn on Tuesday were 12, 41, 43, 52, and 55, with a Mega Ball of 9. The Megaplier was 4X. Although no one won the estimated $681 million jackpot, a player in Kansas and another in Michigan matched all five white balls, each winning $1 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Friday, with the grand prize estimated at $740 million and a cash option of $366.3 million. If won, it would be the seventh-largest prize in the game’s history.
Winners can choose between the annuity option—one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments—or the lump sum cash prize. The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 302,575,350.
The jackpot was last claimed on June 4 when a player in Illinois won $552 million, the 10th-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history. The current record stands at $1.602 billion, won in Florida on August 8, 2023.
Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets must be purchased by 9:45 p.m. on the night of the Tuesday and Friday draws.
