Caitlin Clark's Next WNBA Game: How to watch the Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream game tonight
What started as a scary night turned into a win for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
The rookie star overcame an early injury, helping her team beat the Atlanta Dream 84-79 on Monday night. Clark scored 19 points.
Just seven minutes into the game, Clark appeared to roll her left ankle while trying to get through a screen. She fell to the floor, clearly in pain.
Trainers rushed to help, but Clark managed to walk to the bench on her own. After getting her ankle checked, she stayed on the bench and didn’t head to the locker room. The injury didn’t seem too serious, as she returned for the second quarter and scored on Indiana’s first possession. After the game, Clark downplayed the injury, joking that she looked “really soft” on the replay and that it wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
Aside from Clark’s injury scare, it was a strong night for Indiana. The Fever started with an 8-0 run and never lost the lead. Aliyah Boston dominated in the paint, and Kelsey Mitchell shined on offense, scoring a game-high 29 points. Boston also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Indiana led by as much as 18 points.
Although Atlanta had been playing well since the Olympic break, they struggled offensively, shooting just 37% from the field. The Dream made a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to two and nearly tying the game in the final seconds, but couldn’t pull it off. Indiana is now 3-0 against Atlanta this season.
The Caitlin Clark effect was also on display. Normally, the Dream play in a smaller arena, but with Clark in town, the game was moved to the larger State Farm Arena, home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. The arena was packed, with 17,608 fans in attendance, making it the biggest crowd ever for a Dream game and the largest WNBA crowd in Georgia’s history.
