The 5th of August: How are the parallel bars, balance beam, high bar, and women’s floor finals scored in gymnastics?
There are two scores for a gymnastics routine: One for execution and one for difficulty, both of which are referred to as the D score or start value. The D score is the sum of all the skills in a routine, and each gymnastics skill has a numerical value. The proficiency of the skills is measured by the execution score, or E score. A gymnast begins with a score of 10.0, and from that, deductions for flaws and form errors are made. The total for an apparatus is the sum of the D and E scores. As a single skill, vault scores will always be higher.)
