Full Transcript of Biden Speech on Ending His Run for Re-election: WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden outlined the choice to end his re-appointment crusade as a “protection of a vote based system” in an Oval Office address Wednesday night.

“I worship this office, however I love my nation more. Biden stated, “The defense of democracy is more important than any title.” Working for the people of the United States gives me courage and brings me joy. However, I am not the focus of this sacred task of enhancing our union. You are the focus. Your households. Your prospects. It concerns “We the People.”

Without the force of the electorate’s rejection or the restrictions imposed by the Constitution, it is uncommon for a president to voluntarily give up power. Biden, who gave in to a lot of pressure from within his own party and decided not to run for president, said that he made the decision for the country’s benefit and urged Americans to join him in helping to “preserve our democracy.”

He and other Democrats always say that former President Donald Trump is a threat to democracy because he refused to concede after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, which led to a mob attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, to stop the certification process.

Full Transcript of Biden Speech on Ending His Run for Re-election: Trump attacked his former opponent Wednesday night at a North Carolina campaign rally. “We officially defeated the worst president in our nation’s history, crooked Joe Biden, three days ago,” he stated.

Early on Sunday afternoon, Biden announced his decision to withdraw from his re-election campaign in a post on X. About half an hour later, he announced his endorsement of Kamala Harris, his vice president, for the Democratic nomination.

She quickly gained support within their party, and it is likely that she will win a virtual roll call of Democratic delegates as early as August 1 and no later than August 7.

Harris received praise from Biden on Wednesday night.

Biden stated, “She’s experienced, tough, and capable.” She has been an amazing partner to me and a great leader for our nation.”

In passing on the designation to her, Biden turned into the primary qualified officeholder to surrender his party’s official gesture since Lyndon Johnson in 1968. That was two years prior to Biden’s first attempt to win a seat on the New Castle County Council in Delaware.

He will finish his career undefeated in general elections because he chose to retire rather than remain on the ballot in 2024, even though he ran for president in 1988 and 2008 and lost in the primaries. Additionally, it marks the end of a presidency-focused career. Biden considered running for the presidency for the first time in the first election he was old enough to vote in, in 1980, and at least considered doing so in most of the years when there was no Democratic incumbent on the ballot.

Biden gained support from progressives in Congress early on in his administration, despite being regarded as a centrist within his party. He and his Democratic allies claim that he implemented the most expansive domestic agenda since the Johnson administration. This claim is difficult to quantify, and critics dispute it.

Regardless of the metric, Biden signed major laws that will have a big impact on the country. These laws include a nearly $2 trillion COVID relief measure, a trillion-dollar infrastructure package, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which has significant climate change control provisions.

On Wednesday night, Biden stated that his track record “merited a second term.”

Biden promised to seek after his plan until another president is confirmed on Jan. 20.

He stated, “I will be focused on doing my job as president over the next six months.” This indicates that I will continue to expand our economy and cut costs for hardworking families. I will continue to guard our individual flexibilities and our social liberties — from the option to cast a ballot to one side to pick.”

In an implicit plea to Americans to reject his longtime rival, he also made a nod to the danger of a second Trump presidency.

He stated, “The wonderful thing about America is that kings and dictators do not rule here.” The public does. You are in control of history. The power is in your grasp. The possibility of America lies in your grasp.”
