Former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham voices support for Harris
Former Trump staffer, Stephanie Grisham, addresses the Democratic National Convention
One of the unexpected speakers at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night was Stephanie Grisham, who used to work for the Trump administration as press secretary and chief of staff to Melania Trump.
In her short speech, Grisham highlighted her close relationship with Trump, describing herself as a “true believer” who spent holidays at Mar-a-Lago and saw Trump behind the scenes.
Grisham revealed that Trump privately made fun of his supporters and lacked empathy. She recalled a time when he was annoyed that hospital cameras were focused on ICU patients instead of him. She also expressed frustration with Trump’s disregard for the truth, mentioning how he believed that if lies were repeated enough, people would start to believe them.
Grisham’s breaking point came on January 6, 2021, when she urged Melania Trump to condemn the violence at the Capitol but was met with refusal. She resigned that day, saying she could no longer support what she called “insanity.”
At the convention, Grisham endorsed Kamala Harris, praising her honesty and respect for the American people. Her speech was well-received by the Democratic audience but criticized by the Trump campaign, which called her a “stone-cold loser” with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Since leaving, Grisham has been distanced by the Trump family, especially after publishing her 2021 memoir, which they dismissed as an attempt to profit from false claims. Grisham now joins other Republicans, like John Giles and Adam Kinzinger, in supporting Harris over Trump.
