Stevie Wonder And John Legend Bring Star Power To DNC Day 3—Watch All The Performances
The third night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago was full of exciting performances by music legends like Stevie Wonder and John Legend. Here’s a recap of the artists who performed on Wednesday and their memorable moments.
The evening began with singer-songwriter Maren Morris, who performed her country song “Better Than We Found It.” Morris recently left the country music scene because of the increasing political divide in the genre, as reported by Billboard.
Stevie Wonder also took the stage to deliver an inspiring message and perform. He urged everyone to keep striving for unity in the United States before performing his hit song, “Higher Ground.”
Later, John Legend paid tribute to Minnesota’s iconic musician, Prince, just before Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Walz’s keynote speech. Legend was joined by singer and drummer Sheila E. for an energetic performance of “Let’s Go Crazy!” dedicated to Minnesota, where Walz serves as governor.
The night also featured celebrity speakers like Mindy Kaling, comedian Kenan Thompson, and TV host Oprah Winfrey, who was a last-minute addition to the lineup. Poet and activist Amanda Gorman also recited her new poem, “This Sacred Scene.”
The DNC has had many star-studded moments so far. On Day 1, singers Jason Isbell and Mickey Guyton performed (though James Taylor’s set was cut due to time constraints). On Day 2, music turned the roll call into a lively celebration, complete with a DJ and a surprise appearance by Lil Jon. Pink is scheduled to close out the convention tomorrow night, according to CNN.
