California Gov. Gavin Newsom endorses “fearless” Kamala Harris: Gov. Gavin Newsom expressed gratitude to President Joe Biden, who announced on Sunday that he would not be running for president, and he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to assume the role of Democratic candidate in the November election to defeat former President Donald Trump.

In a Sunday afternoon post on X, Newsom stated, “With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction than America’s Vice President.” Harris was also described as “tough.” Fearless. Hours after he first acknowledged Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race, his fellow Californian gave him his endorsement.

Newsom had previously stated that if Harris decided to run for president or win the nomination, he would support her. He stated “of course” he would support her earlier this month, reiterating that commitment.

Biden quickly endorsed Harris as the party’s presidential nominee after announcing his decision just before 11 a.m. on Sunday. He was under increasing pressure to step down from within his own party.
