Bills vs. Ravens winners

Derrick Henry
At age 30, any doubts about Henry slowing down were silenced with his performance on Sunday Night Football. Henry took the Ravens’ first offensive play 87 yards for a touchdown, setting a franchise record for the longest run in Baltimore’s history, breaking the previous 82-yard record shared by Jamal Lewis and Le’Ron McClain.

Henry reached a top speed of 21.29 mph during the run, marking the fourth-fastest by a ball carrier in 2024, according to NFL’s Next Gen Stats. Henry finished the game with 24 carries for 199 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving), falling just one yard short of his seventh career 200-yard rushing game, which would have been an NFL record.

Henry’s workload is relieving pressure on Jackson while opening the field for him, making the Ravens’ offense one of the most dynamic in the NFL. As long as both stay healthy, Baltimore will have one of the best running games in the league, which will help in their Super Bowl aspirations in the era of two-high safety defenses.

Lamar Jackson
Henry may have led the offense, but Jackson was efficient, completing 13 of 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, adding 54 rushing yards and another score. His efficiency mirrors his MVP-winning season, and his synergy with Henry is helping him remain one of the league’s top players.

Zach Orr’s Ravens defense
Like Henry, Baltimore’s defense faced questions entering 2024 after former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald left to become head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Orr, a former Ravens player, took over and has steadily improved the defense, culminating in an impressive performance against Buffalo’s high-powered offense.

The Ravens held Buffalo to just 236 total yards, and Josh Allen failed to throw a touchdown for the first time since the Bills’ 9-6 loss to Jacksonville in 2021. Veteran edge rusher Kyle Van Noy recorded two sacks for the third straight game. If the Ravens defense keeps improving, it could become one of the best in the league.

Kansas City Chiefs
Despite losing their No. 1 receiver to a potential torn ACL, the Chiefs are the last undefeated team in the AFC. Kansas City already holds a tiebreaker over Baltimore and now has a one-game lead over Buffalo. Every advantage counts for the injury-stricken Chiefs as they aim for a third consecutive Super Bowl.

Before Week 4, the Bills were widely regarded as the NFL’s best team. They were 3-0, and Josh Allen was playing at an elite level. However, after their blowout loss to Baltimore, there could be a shift in how the Bills are viewed. Their first three opponents—Arizona, Miami, and Jacksonville—all have struggling defenses, which might lead some to question whether Buffalo’s offense benefitted from a weaker schedule.

That said, Buffalo’s wins over the Dolphins and Jaguars were decisive, and Allen still hasn’t thrown an interception through four games. While Baltimore’s defense is elite, this loss might cause some second-guessing of the Bills ahead of their Week 5 matchup with the Houston Texans.

Bills’ pass-catching weapons
The Bills’ receivers weren’t terrible, but this was the first game where they truly missed Stefon Diggs. Once the Ravens built a 21-3 lead, Buffalo lacked a player who could consistently win and get open. Khalil Shakir had a 52-yard play, Dalton Kincaid was a reliable target, and Keon Coleman showed flashes of his potential, but none could step into the role of a true No. 1 receiver.

Allen found himself scrambling and taking contested deep shots to Coleman.
